Our Story

The Slow Riders are based in Shortsville, NY, and play country music, new and traditional.  We enjoy playing music that people like to dance to, listen to, and sing along with.  We are life-long fans of country music, even though we can and DO rock out!

The band started as a band of friends/a band of brothers...we would like to keep it that way...we enjoy spending time with the people that come to our gigs, and with each other.

Mark Lohr – The "Unofficial Mayor of Shortsville” and Slow Rider’s singer and front man.  Mark has sung for country and rock bands for decades.

Paul VerHeecke – The band's own “VH”, Paul is a life-long country guitar picker and fan, and sings as well.

Butch Franks – Plays bass in Slow Riders, but can also play a mean guitar.  A sought-after musician, he guests with many other area musicians.
Tom Benge – Besides being a rock-solid drummer, Tom is also the band's VP of Marketing and is vital to keeping the Slow Riders booked and moving.

Paul Henry – The band’s newest member, Paul fills in as-needed on guitar.
